Area 27
Formed
in 2004 by Shalien & The Lord of The Starfields, Area 27 is a
collaborative music project that has remained somewhat enigmatic.
The debut CD "Magik & Mayhem" was concieved and recorded in an
unorthodox fashion at a series of inspirational locations and
makeshift studios. These locations included a converted office floor
in a very cosmopolitan section of Melbourne, Australia, a
decommissioned navy base on the Central Coast of California and a
magikal, serene property in the California high desert..
The music draws from a wide range of influences, from obvious
contemporaries; Portishead, Massive Attack etc to the not so obvious
but strong influence of artists as varied as David Bowie, The
Beatles, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, INXS, Prince, Coldplay,
Radiohead & Tom Waits.

TIGERFOREST
Gunnar Spardel is the force behind Tigerforest, here is what he had to say in a recent chat: "There is a forest up in the arctic circle called Tigerforest. It produces more than half the oxygen produced from trees on the planet. The forest has a short growing cycle, just one month, and in that time it produces all of that oxygen. I was really moved by the idea that there is a forest so far away but is having a big affect on the planet." The musical roots of Tigerforest can be found in the musical genres of chill, ambient house and trance. From these roots in electronic music, Tigerforest developed it's own musical style without sticking to the rules of dedicated genres. The music should be accessible to the listener, touching their emotions. Two tracks from Tigerforest's collection are now playing in rotation on our playlist.

Two Loons For Tea
Two Loons for Tea returns five years after its second album -- the critically acclaimed, challenging yet seductive Looking for Landmarks -- and having forged intense bonds with an ever-growing legion of loyal fans in North America and Europe, have delivered Nine Lucid Dreams. Independent in spirit and in business (with their growing Sarathan Records label), the album at once delivers on the promise of its predecessors and opens up new artistic vistas and possibilities for the Seattle-based duo. www.twoloons.com

Compulsive
Behaviour
The first track we played when our station went Live in 2006, was
from an un-signed act called Compulsive Behaviour. "Is Not That
Easy" fits perfectly into our playlist and over our first month we
played a selection of tracks from this outstanding new artist. Check
out his tracks on his

Crystalline Dream
Richard & Korey Ross are the guys responsible for Crystalline Dream and we caught up with Richard recently to ask him about Threshold, their last album released in 2006 and new work in the pipeline. "Somewhere in my dreams' memories, the idea behind Crystalline Dream and the Threshold album had been haunting me until I was fortunate enough to bring them to life. Most of the music and themes on the album were realized when I was dreaming and jotted down upon awakening. Threshold is in fact, a single composition with a common developing theme comprised of eleven pieces and are meant to be an unfolding dream. As you slip from consciousness, falling asleep, you cross the Threshold and deeper into dream." "Keep an eye out for our new album later in 2008". Two tracks from Threshold are now in rotation on our playlist. www.solovey.info

GXR
GXR was formed by ex Groovecatcher composer/producers Simon Cooper and Phil Webb in 2007. Following their haunting remix of the classic Billie Holiday track "Long Gone Blues" for Sony Legacy, GXR's debut album Skylines, was released in 2008 via their own independent label, Xtra Rare Music. You can now check out 4 tracks from this album currently playing as part of the BHR Chill playlist plus one slightly funkier track on Terraza. www.gxrmusic.com / www.myspace.com/gxrmusic
